Made with ConsiderationLowe Family Wine Co is a certified organic & biodynamic winery, vineyard and farm in Mudgee, New South Wales.

Led by Australian wine champion, David Lowe (director & chief winemaker), Lowe’s practices start with a consideration for people & place,
highlighting regenerative agriculture’s role in creating exceptional wine.

Being ‘fully sustainable’ sits right next to ‘creating exceptional food & wine’ as our key business goals at LFWC. And while sustainability may be an overused term, it’s not a task we take any less seriously. As a business, and as custodians of this land, we are responsible for thinking & acting on behalf of future generations. As such, our environmental impact is considered in all daily operations & future decision making.

Does this mean you’ll find a perfect picture here? Definitely not. We are still learning. And while sometimes it’s challenging, every day we push to be better than the one before. Below you will find some of our key sustainability practises implemented alongside organics & biodynamics; we will continue adding to these as we move towards our goal.

With over 40 years in the industry working across many regions & countries, David combines traditional winemaking techniques with an innovative approach. Starting from the ground up, with a focus on quality & regionality, the resulting wines are a true reflection of the climate, soil, terrain & history that are Mudgee ‘terroir’.

With the area well suited for gutsy, quartz-loving varieties, Lowe’s red vines were planted by David in 1995 favouring a bush vine system. Operations were then converted to organics in 2005 & biodynamics in 2011 – certifications they’ve held ever since and credit for their ability to make exceptional wine, year after year.

Born from a love of family, food and wine, here at di Lusso Estate we believe that the best moments in life are shared around a table. Inspired by Italian tradition and grounded in the rich soils of Mudgee, our estate brings together award-winning wines and our iconic figs in a setting designed for connection.

Our vineyards are planted with Italian varietals that thrive in the Mudgee climate, producing elegant, expressive wines made to complement food and conversation. Alongside the vines, our fig orchard has become a signature of the estate — a celebration of flavour, seasonality and craftsmanship.

For di Lusso winemaker Alexander, the journey into wine began unexpectedly. Before entering the wine world, Alexander spent years travelling across Europe working in dairies as a cheesemaker, learning the craft of creating something truly by hand. When plans to return to Tasmania and establish a cheesery were disrupted during the pandemic, a chance friendship with respected winemaker Jim Chatto opened a new path.
What began as volunteering in vineyards and wineries during lockdown quickly turned into a passion. In 2021 Alexander produced his first wine — jumping straight in with ten barrels of premium Pinot Noir — driven by a desire to create something tangible, expressive and deeply connected to place.
That philosophy continues at di Lusso.
Alexander believes the role of a winemaker is not to control the wine, but to respect the grapes and the land that produces them. Years of working with exceptional Pinot Noir have taught him the importance of allowing wine to develop naturally. At di Lusso, the focus is on nurturing the vineyard and producing the highest quality fruit possible, so that the winemaking itself can remain minimal and intuitive.

Reopening its gates in 2026 with renewed passion and vision, our Mudgee winery proudly enters an exciting new chapter. Originally established in 2003, the estate quickly became known for its warm hospitality, scenic surrounds and handcrafted wines that captured the spirit of the region. After a brief period of transition and new ownership, we are delighted to welcome guests back to experience the charm, character and refined touches that honour our roots while embracing a fresh future.
